I was doing some searches on Google for Lich Lord. Then added King to the search because of the next WoW expansion. And ran across the following. Last line in this post made me LOL for real.
I haven't voiced my stance on Michael Vick before now. Main reason is I really don't care about Michael Vick. I'm not a Falcons fan -- never was and never will be. When I first started watching football as a kid, I immediately became a Miami Dolphins fan but had such a fondness for the Dallas Cowboys that I'd root for Dallas as long as they weren't playing Miami. As I got older, that flipped around. But Dallas and Miami have always been my top two teams... same thing happened in the other sports too as #1 and #2 flipped but they always were the top two.
But the legal aspect of Vick is beyond sports. So people in the United States of America (not Nazi Germany no matter what Peta wants) are allowed their day in court. That is, until they decide to give up that right and plead guilty which Vick's attorneys have stated he will do now. But one thing I notice is plead guilty to what? Some of the charges to get a reduced sentence... all of the charges... what? So until he *ACTUALLY* does the plea in court there is still a bit of "let's wait and see" to this fiasco.
Here's the issue we can talk about for certain. Michael Vick is an idiot. Well, there is the whole issue of making a boatload of money ($130 million over 10 years with the Falcons plus the endorsement deals on top of that) and doing with it something that can take it all away in an instant. That qualifies as being an idiot alone. But let's talk about his "friends" a moment. Barry Bonds has a friend who didn't rat him out and sitting in jail right now. Michael Vick's so-called boys were ready to rat him out so fast, it was almost laughable. These guys are the type of guys who will say to a person from their neighborhood who gets on course like Vick to make a ton of money that dreaded saying: "Are you down with me?"
People who say that know they will never make it on their own merits (or lack thereof) and know they will never be anywhere but down -- down in the gutter. Word of advice, if anyone says that to you... RUN -- do not walk -- away from that person as fast as you can. The future that waits for someone who says that is either a prison sentence or an early time to take the eternal dirt nap aka riding in the subterranean bobsled aka pushing up daisies aka victim of the fourth horseman aka DEATH.
Michael Vick will be heading to jail for sure entering this plea. And good. He should be there and I hope he comes out realizing his mistakes (yeah, plural) and never repeat them again. And I hope that Peta can stop the picking and choosing who does wrong to animals. Why would I say that? Well, why isn't Peta jumping on those people who go into the woods to kill animals for sport? I think those who go in the woods with other guys to do that aren't just there for hunting though. People who do that must be there to re-enact Brokeback Mountain too. (yeah, I went there)
The funniest thing on the Vick that I saw though was a radio station in Atlanta selling the NEW Michael Vick jerseys. Get it at Michael Vick's NEXT jersey sold here.
Well, at least whatever prison he goes to, I'm sure he'll be picked first for the football games in the prison yard. #1 draft pick again for Michael Vick! Way to go, Mike! Sure those "friends" that swore they were your boys and "down" with you proved how far *THAT* goes -- NOWHERE.
My only thing that upsets me about this is -- how do I impose no Michael Vick in Madden 07? (don't own 08 yet) Other than that, Michael Vick going to prison makes me want to play Queen's Another One Bites the Dust for another fallen sports star.
Well, I got a little flap about my comment on opinions. Actually, a more specific about not bowing down and saying one game is more superior than another and anyone who says so is only voicing their opinion.
Okay, let me put it another way so there will be no doubt. Take your opinion... add a dime to it... and see if you can buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks with that. Forget Starbucks, try to buy a cup at gas station on the corner. See? Not so valuable after all, is it? It's only valuable to you.
I would tell you to enjoy whatever game you're playing. And if you have to pay for it, then enjoy it and don't let the masses tell you otherwise.
I'm breaking my normal post one time a month that I've fallen into the last few months. Today, I didn't power up any game except CoX for like 5 minutes to make a new toon when I found a surprising name available with the new "Check Name" function.
I haven't been in Tabula Rasa beta much. Honestly, it's hard to. It's kind of sad to see the game after waiting almost four years in the shape it is. I know there was a revamp but still. They announced that revamp about two years ago. Every beta I've done before, the testers say a game needs more development at release time but they never listen to that. Trust me, when I was bamboozled into beta testing the Sims Online, that game may never have seen the light of day how bad it sucked.
I think I need to come up with a departure tagline to sign off all the posts with here. Anyhow, that's all for this post.
Well, another entry about games.
GuildWars has another addition coming out later this month called Eye of the North. Unlike Factions and Nightfall, this one will be more of an expansion to the game with high level content. The other two were stand-alone but connected games but Eye of the North will require owning one of the three.
But thinking about GW made me think about how most online games charge people. GW takes the approach of buy the game then play for free online. So even though I only power up GW on occasion, I did pre-order EotN. EVE Online takes the opposite approach in that you get it free by downloading but then pay to play after the trial period. Dungeon Runners (got the game and account but never played) is completely free as in free to download and free to play unless you want the exclusive content that costs $5/month. Then there's the City of Heroes/Villains and World of Warcraft approach... pay for the game and pay to play online. With Warcraft announcing Wrath of the Lich King expansion coming, Blizzard did not give a free month for buying Burning Crusade while CoX did give a free month if you bought both games separate for each.
Now am I saying which is the superior game? Hell no! That would only be my opinion. Anyone who says that is only voicing an opinion. Remember, most movie reviews are opposite of the movie. Reviewers say movies suck and normally they're good and vice versa. I know a reviewer trashed one particular movie very badly and that movie became one of the biggest box offices successes of it's time and spawned two... not one but two and soon to be three sequels. That movie was Raiders of the Lost Ark. Lesson... to each their own when it comes to saying what is the superior game.
Oh, yeah. Bonds broke that record. You know, I didn't watch when it happened but I couldn't avoid the replays since I watch plenty of ESPN. But the replays showed how emotional Bonds got and how he never took his eyes off the screen when Hank Aaron spoke. If Barry showed the side of him that he showed by the replays, I think a lot more people would like him. Should it have an *? I don't think so. He hit the home runs and it's over now. If they wanted to do something to stop him like if he tested positive, it should have been done before and not after.
Funniest thing I thought was the people in the cove. They were probably the same people that were there all the other times plus a few more. And yet, the guy who got the ball was in center field and just passing through from New York. And while he had a Mets jersey on, I saw another person right there going for the ball with an A-Rod jersey on. It would have been even funnier if he got the ball since everyone is believing A-Rod will be the one to break Bonds record. But don't be too quick because Ken Griffey, Jr was expected to break Aaron's record don't forget. Of course back then, Jr was on pace to do it and young enough but injuries happened to him. And nobody thought Bonds would back then. Barry was a power hitter but back then 30 home runs a year was a big deal... then came the Mark McGwyer steroid era where 30 is only a big deal if you have it by midway through the season. No, he probably wasn't the first but he did openly have his Andro bottle in plain view in interviews. And the sales on that stuff skyrocketed after the first time McGwyer mentioned the name. So Bud Selig with this now act of caring about who is using and who isn't is pure bullshit. He didn't care when people were packing the stadiums again after a few down years as a result of the strike. He only cares now because the fans came back and now the face attached is Barry Bonds. If anyone should have an * by their name in the record books, it should be Bud Selig and the notation should read, "The steroid era happened on his watch and he sat back and watched it happen even though McGwyer had the bottle sitting right there in interviews as if he was a sponsor for Andro"
